U.S.Visit 2016. Sajay`s Wedding

Visit to USA 2016. Sajay`s Wedding.

We arrived in Las Vegas on 20th July evening, after a long flight of 15 hours from Dubai and another 3 hours flight from Seattle. Las Vegas was very hot at 110 f and will continue to be hot for another month. Our trip was maily for the wedding of our second son Isaac(Sajay) at Las Vegas, on 25th July..

On Saturday 23rd July,  close friends, relatives and the Bride Nunu`s mother Peggy, brother Mammachen, sister Chuchu  and other relatives, who had arrived early, were invited for a get together and supper at Sajay`s home. Some of Sunil`s and Sajay`s local family friends, were also invited. Sajay grilled some chicken tikkas,  baked some curry puffs for the evening and had ordered mutton and veg Biriyani for supper. About 60 persons had a nice evening together. Sunday 24th evening was a party, at the Carbo Warbo Restaurant at the Strip, with a slide presentation of old photos. About 70  family members from both sides and friends were present. The food and refreshments were excellent.

The wedding  was held at the La Capella Di Amore Chapel, at  the The Hilton, Las  Vegas Lake Resort Nevada  at 3/30 pm on 25th July 2016. It was conducted by  Rev. John Oommen, the Vicar of the Mar Thoma church at   Los Angeles. Sajay and other male family members, including our grandson Neil, wore traditional Mundu and Juba for the wedding. All ladies of the house wore special sarees for the occasion.

On 25th, after the wedding and the photo session , a formal  reception and dinner was held,at a special venue at the Resort,  from 6pm till late in the night, which was attended by 140 persons. Kacha  ceremony was held during the reception and was followed by dance in the western tradition.

Among those who attended from  our side in these functions included the following:

Chottu Nina and 2 daughters, Jithika and Toji-( both families could not stay for the wedding and reception), Ajith son of Georgekuttychayan,Sujith (son of Mallappally Susi and Raju) and children,  Sweety, Sam and children, Tina, Naveen and his children. Sathish, Sunil,Preethy, Nina and Neil represented the close family.

The following week end we went to Washington DC to attend M.T.Church and a lunch organised for the Parish by Nunu's family. The food was one of the best Kerala (Nadan) dishes, both Veg and Non veg, I have eaten anywhere. It was served in the church parish hall, by a Malayali at a very reasonable cost, from New Jersey. We spent Sunday with Sajay and Nunu in her flat. The flat was just next to the Metro and Bus stations. We walked around a few blocks of the city around the flat, which is beautifully maintained. We  returned to LV by Monday night. Most of the family members of Nunu are in Washington area and we visited a few. We also spent a day with Naveen and family at Philadelphia, on Saturday before we returned to Washington DC. This short trip and the wedding and related celeberations were, very enjoyable experience.
