Organic Cultivation.

Organic Cultivation. Myths and reality.

Organic manures have an important role in plant health and soil fertility. The soil is only a media for plant growth. In most advanced commercial agriculture, mostly growing media is used. This is to ensure uniform color, size, flavor and many other qualities ,for the produce. Plants absorb their required nutrients, only in soluble forms, including enzymes and hormones. Organic manures require much time to get converted to absorbable soluble forms. Their nutrient contents are low and much larger quantities are required, to meet the full nutrient requirement of the crop. Large quantities of reliable organic products are not locally available in most places.Transporting organic manures, beyond a short distance, makes them expensive. Organic products are more of a fad. Organic pesticides are at best, only prophylactic (protective), and do not control, large scale pest infestation. This leads to higher costs and lower productivity. Only a much higher recovery of produce price, could make it viable. Very few in India can afford this higher produce price. Lower food production and higher unit cost, will be a National disaster in country, like India, with a large growin population.. However it has scope for in kitchen gardens and for limited export market. Thre is a wrong notion that everything organi(From Nature) are good. Many plants and seeds are very toxic.
